Parker 51 Aerometric Fountain Pen, Forest Green, XF

(Sold) This is a 1948 Parker 51 Aerometric (full-size) in Forest Green with a 14k gold XF nib and a stainless steel cap (with a jewel on top). The pen has been restored, which included a complete disassembly, a gentle cleaning, an overhaul of the filling mechanism, ink flow adjustment, a  nib tune-up, and a gentle polish with a soft cloth (by hand). I restore pens according to current "best practices" and I use high-quality replacement materials.

The Parker 51 is obviously a classic vintage fountain pen, and it's the one pen that every fountain pen enthusiast should at least try. There's so much history, such heritage, and so much advanced technology built into this pen, it's hard not to revel in this iconic, timeless design. If you have been thinking about trying a Parker 51, here's an excellent opportunity to own this beautiful pen in  a rare Forest Green color and with a smooth, dependable XF nib. Yes, you can probably find a cheap 51 on eBay, but are you willing to take the chance?

The pen is in fantastic condition. There are no flaws or defects, and now that it's been restored, it's going to give its new owner years (even decades) of dependable performance. This would be an ideal office pen, as it writes a line that would be suitable for all kinds of office documents and paper. An XF writer, it lays down a confident line (about 0.3 mm on my paper) that never falters, skips, or hard-starts. A line that is tuned to write a touch above average in ink flow, so you can enjoy that awesome gliding sensation but without making a mess on poor-quality paper. The pen writes at the lightest touch, but it will take a heavy hand in stride. It was designed to write on all kinds of paper, including carbon copy. The nib is firm, has a fairly large sweet spot, but it doesn't feel like a total nail, thanks to its shock-absorbing properties.

What a gorgeous material! Forest Green is a rather uncommon color on this model, so it doesn't come up for sale very often, especially in such good condition. The jewel is clear, the imprint strong, even the breather tube is in excellent shape. I predict the pen will sell quickly, so do not hesitate. Give this pen a try, it will not disappoint.
